Director of Faith Formation: Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 59 Cottage Street ,Sharon, Ma 02067

 Overview

The Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Director of Faith Formation is responsible for the overall parish faith formation program from Baptismal Catechesis through Adult. This is a full-time, professional position on the parish’s Pastoral Staff.  This position requires a flexible work schedule, including weekends during the school year and some evenings, according to the activities of the parish and the season of the year. The Director of Faith Formation is accountable to the Pastor and the Pastoral Staff.  The Director of Faith Formation will maintain a working relationship with the Archdiocesan Office of Religious Education and the religious education staffs of the parishes in our Collaborative.

 Responsibilities

Leadership and Curriculum Development for all aspects of a full parish faith formation program from baptism through adult including sacramental preparation including but not limited to:

  • Baptismal Catechesis
  • Pre-K through Grade 8 including, but not limited to
  • First Reconciliation
  • First Eucharist
  • Children's Sacraments of Initiation
  • RCIA
  • Confirmation, working with Director of Youth Ministry
  • Adult Faith Formation and Whole Community Catechesis
  • Support and mentor parents as the primary faith educators of their children
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of a plan for attracting, training, supporting and evaluating catechists
    • Parent Meetings
    • Prepare and monitor program budget
    • Participate in diocesan meetings
    • Participate in and shares responsibility for Pastoral Staff meetings
    • Participate in Parish Pastoral Council Meetings
    • Participate in the Walpole-Sharon Catholic Collaborative
    • Provide leadership for and be the Pastoral Staff Liaison to the Religious Education and Faith Formation Commission
    • Develop and maintain a relationship with administrators in Sharon Public Schools, especially Cottage Street School, focused on facilities sharing
      • Director of Youth Ministry
      • Administrative Assistant for Faith Formation
        • · MA degree in religious education or theology or pastoral studies preferred
        • · Committed to ongoing professional education and formation
        • · Experience as a catechetical leader
        • · Curriculum development and teaching experiences
        • · Familiarity with a variety of faith formation models, including whole community catechesis
        • · Familiarity with the Church’s interreligious and ecumenical work
        • · Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
        • · MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
        • · Working knowledge of ParishSOFT (or the ability to learn)
        • · Familiarity with social networking tools and their use in ministry

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A CONFIRMATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR

For St. Thomas of Villanova Church and St. Dorothy’s Church, Wilmington, MA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Confirmation Program Coordinator (CPC) will have a Bachelor's Degree in Theology or

Catechetics, or their equivalent, and be committed to implement Archdiocesan sacramental

guidelines regarding Confirmation. The CPC will be responsible for developing,

implementing and evaluating a two-year comprehensive Confirmation program for grades 9-10; arranging for and facilitating retreats for adolescent; engage in ongoing professional formation and offer incentive activities to recruit train, and evaluate all peer and adult volunteers of the Confirmation program; create and maintain a Confirmation Program budget; perform other position related tasks as deemed necessary or assigned by the pastor.
